This is the privacy policy for Shinkai Labs Ltd, trading as wefixico (“wefixico”, “we”, “us”) — a London-based property care platform that connects you with verified pros to fix things in your home or business.

Your privacy matters to us. The law also requires us to explain what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We’ve done our best to keep this short and in plain English.

Who we are

Shinkai Labs Ltd, trading as wefixico, is the data controller for the information we collect about you. You can reach us at support@wefixico.com.

If you’re not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

What information we collect

When you message us, request a quote, or book a job, we may collect:

  • Contact info — your name, mobile number, email, postcode.
  • Job details — what needs fixing, photos you send, your preferred slot.
  • Payment info — card details processed by Stripe. We don’t store full card numbers.
  • Messages — the WhatsApp and email conversation between you, us, and your pro.
  • Technical info — your IP address, browser, device, and pages you visit (via cookies — see our cookies page).

We don’t collect special-category data (health, religion, etc.) unless you volunteer it as part of a job.

Why we collect it

  • To give you a quote and book your job
  • To pay your pro and process refunds
  • To resolve disputes and run the wefixico Guarantee
  • To send booking confirmations, pro ETAs, and payment receipts
  • To improve the service through anonymous usage data
  • To comply with UK law — accounting, tax, fraud prevention

We rely on the following legal bases under UK GDPR Article 6: contract (to deliver the service you booked), legitimate interests (to improve the service, prevent fraud), consent (for non-essential cookies and marketing emails), and legal obligation (for accounting, tax, regulatory).

Who we share it with

  • Your assigned pro — name, contact, postcode, job details so they can do the job
  • Stripe — for payment processing
  • Resend — for transactional emails
  • Meta (WhatsApp Business) — for the chat channel
  • Vercel — for hosting and anonymous traffic analytics
  • HMRC / regulators — when legally required
  • Insurers — if a wefixico Guarantee claim is opened

We don’t sell your data. Ever.

How long we keep it

  • Active customer records — while your account is active + 6 years (HMRC requirement)
  • Job conversations and photos — 2 years (for dispute resolution)
  • Marketing data — until you unsubscribe
  • Cookies — as set out in our cookies page

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Correct anything that’s wrong
  • Delete your data (subject to our legal obligations to retain some records)
  • Restrict or object to how we process it
  • Take your data with you in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time

International transfers

Some of our service providers (Vercel, Resend, Stripe) may process data outside the UK. They’re covered by appropriate safeguards — Standard Contractual Clauses or UK Adequacy Regulations.
